The firm has built a solid reputation in service to the rural community. With rural departments at both Retford and Chesterfield, the services include the valuation of freehold property and farming assets, advice to landlords and tenants, compensation claims (including compulsory purchase, power lines, pipe lines, road improvements, etc.), annual stocktaking valuations and taxation issues.
The firm also conducts live and dead stock farm dispersal auctions.
As agents for the Agricultural Mortgage Corporation, the firm also provides access to finance for all agricultural purposes. Initial visits to explain the loan facilities offered by AMC are made free of charge.
Drawing on the expertise of other departments within the firm, specialist advice is available on diversification issues involving alternative uses of buildings and assets of the farming business, including such things as radio masts, etc.
With the emerging emphasis on environmental support, the firm can assist not only in Single Payment Scheme applications but also Woodland Grant and Environmental Stewardship Schemes.
The firm also undertakes the sale, acquisition and letting of farms and farm land and is able to advise on the farming of land through contract, management and share farming arrangements.
A further area of diversification in which the firm is involved is the growing and management of renewable energy crops such as short rotation coppice (SRC) as a key agricultural crop.
